Messrs Alfred Buckiand and Sons report:— , On Wednesday; March 20, at our Weekly Westfield fat stock market, fat cattle were penned to the number of <398 head. There was an »yen demand throughout, and last week's values were easily sustained. Choice ox beef , sold to Ll 6s per 1001b, ordinary Ll 3s to Ll 5s 6d, and cow and heifer to«ef Ll. to Ll 4s. Steers ranged in pneefrom L 6 17s 6d to Ll4; cows and heifers, L 3 10s to LlO: Calves, penned in usual numbers, were slight. Iy lower in value* Choice heavy sutikers made from L 2 15s toL3 18s, medium Ll 10s to L 2, light light and fresh dropped 3h to 20s ; 81 sold. There was an average entry of mutton, the quality, of winch was good. Compef tition was Bteady; but the market was inclined to be easier. Prime heavy wethers realised from \9s to Ll, heavy 17s to 18« 6d, medium and light Ids to 16s 6d ; bdst ewes 14s 9d to 16s 6d, others 12s to 14s; poor and aged, "7s 9d to 10s 9d j l70»^Bo)d. The )ambs were nearly all of choice quality. There was a falling ofi in the demand, and I prices were from Is to Is 6d below late j sales. Best heavy made from 14s to 16s Gd, others Us to 13s, stoics 6& 9A to 10s ; 709 sold. Pigs came forward in average numbers. Weaners maintained late values, but porkers and? baconers were a trifle lower. Baconers ( yeaiieedfrom L 2 10s to L 3 7s; large porkers L 2 3s to L 2 Bs, lighter Ll 7s to L 2; slips, 18s to Ll 2s; weaners, 12s to 16a ,6d;-131 sold.
