On Wednesday, March 13, at'our ■weekly Westfield fat stock market. the beef pens contained 389 head, the major portion being of excellent quality- Tfeere was a steady demand throughout, at prices which were • scaicely up to last week's rates. Choice ox, to LI 6s, ordinary Ll Ss to LI 5s 6d; cow "and .heifer, Ll to Ll'4a. Steers ranged in price from LQ 17s 6d ,- to Ll6 ; cows and heifers, L 4 'to L 9 12s 6d. Twelve extra prime heavy pure-bred Hereford bullocks, the prj,perty of Mr G. F, Moore, of Bushy ' Park, Kai Iwi, averaged Ll4 11s. Fat and young calves came forward in increased numbers, and sold readily Runners, L 3 to L 3 18s ; heavy suckers, JL2 10s to L 3 ; medium suckers, Ll 10? to L 2 ss. The sheep pens were well filled with a ,good class of mutton. fXhere was an improved demand, and • with the exception of an odd pen of ewes values were from Is to is 6d in advance of late sales. Prime heavy wethers, 19s 9d to T.I Is 9d; heavy 17s to 19s; medium and light, 12s 9d to 16s; best heavy ewes, 15s to 16s id others 12s to 14s 6d ; aged and poor, 6s to 10s 6d (2028 sold). A fail entry of lambs sold under steady competition at ruling figures. Best heavy 15s 9d to 17s 9d, others 12s 6d to 15s, ,lightlOsto -12s; stores, 6s M to 9s (488 sold). Pigs formed-an average entry, and were principally choice quality baconers and porkers. The demand remains keen and prices high. ' Heavy baconers. L 3 6s to L 3 18s; lighter L 2 12s to L 3 3s; large porkers, 1.2 ss, to L 2 12s; smaller, Ll 10s to Ll 2s; slips. .IGj Do Ll 2s: small pigs, 9s to 12s (181 sold).
