Last Thursday the Mayor oi Whangarei received notification from the Public Works Minister that the Government will not itself undertake the Wairoa Falls hydroelectric scheme, but the Whangarei County Council may do so, that licenses authorising the uso of the Falls for motive power purposes and also for the construction aud use of the electric lines, will be issued if the legislative requirements are confirmed with.
