CORRESPONDENCE.
WAIMAUKU,
TO THE EDITOK.
Sir, —This is one way the trustees of the Waimauku Hall get money. Mrs Vincent Kerr Taylor asked the committee for the use of the hall to give a childrens Christmas tree on Christmas eve and owing to unforseen circumstances was unable to use the hali. As she had the tree all ready decorated many of her friends tried to persuade her to leave the tree and have it the first evening she could, but she said the trustees might charge her so much a dny or hour, if she left it so she removed it to hoi own home and gave an afternoon in her own garden. I've just heard the secretary billed her for the evenings use of the hall and she . paid it. Now the trustees knew there were extenuating circum» stances but they want money so badly ,they dont mind how they get it. They knew Mrs Taylor has'spent £4 or £5 on those toys and gave them all to the children ( some of the trustees children too) she wrote the secretary offering to pay one hours hire without prejudice but nothing less than the .whole evening would do their. I with three others have begged Mrs Taylor to allow, us to refund her some of that money but she says ''No, one has to buy one's exporience." I think the trustees a.'c pen ay wise and pound foolish.
I am etc, A luhexd (Not a Piano one).
