WAIMAUKU NEWS.

(Own Correspondent)

Mr and Mrs Kerr-Taylor gave a Children's Christmas-tree in their garden on Saturday after" noon, the 30th inst. It was an ideal day, and about 40 children and their parents joined in games etc., and after refreshments had been handed rouri'l, Mrs F. Deacon and Miss Mildred Kerr-Tay-lor handed the toys off the tree, each child getting two or three toys. The naming of a very pretty doll caused groat competition. No one guessed the first name, Sophia, (it being both Mr and Mrs Kerr-Taylor's mothers and grandmothers names), so Mrs Adlington then named the doll, and after much guessing, it was decided to limit the guesses to girls only, and Miss M. Fletcher guessed the name •'Mary." Fortunately Mi^ s Muriel has a little sister who- will benefit; otherwise Mrs Cane guessed the name previous to it being decided to limitMt to girls only. This is the first children's entertainment held in Waimauku, and the grown-ups as well as the children all enjoyed themselves greatly. The garden looked gay with flowers, and the children's happy faces added to the beauty. The girls sang a very pretty action song, and all dispersed about five o'clock for their homes.
