The T New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited report as follows:— At Pukekohe Yards on "Wednesday we held our usual monthly sale. There was an extra large yarding of cattle of all descriptions, which sold at fully late quotations. Best dairy cows and heifers sold at from £8 to £10 15e. others £4 to £7 10s , grown steers £7 to £8 2s 6d ; two and a half to thieeand a-half year old steers, £4 os to £6 10s;. yearling to twoyear old steers. £2 10s to ±,3 17a 6d ; good cVlves, 38s to £2 ss, others 15s to 255; empty cows £2 10s to £4 ss, heifers suitable for dairy purposes £?> 10s to £» ss. Beef, of which 126 head were yarded, sold at fully Westfield rates.
At Westfield Yarcls'on Wednesday fat cattle were yarded in full numbers of nice quality, and prices showed no improvement on last "week, and in some cases receded in price from Is to 2s per lOGlb. Best oxen sold at fro'n £i> os t > £15 2s 6d, others £5 lOs to £9 ; cow* £4 5s to £7 17s 6d; heifers- £4 to £7 ss; veal was yarded in good supply / and sold at late rates , no heavy-weights yarded ; medium do , £2 to £2 15s, others 20s to 30 s ; smaller and fresh-dropped, 5s to 15s. Sheep were yarded in large numbers, and declined in price from 1 s to 2s por head. Best wethers sold at from los 6s to 18s 9d, others 12s to 14s 9cl ; beat ewes l?a to 14s 6d, others 8s 6d to 11s Gd. Lambs were penned in large supply, and sold at lower rates. Best quality lls to 14s, others 8s to 9s 6d ; stores, 5s to 7s. Pigs were in good numbers and sold at fully late rates. HIDES SKIN 3 AND TALLOW We submitted and sold average catalogues of hides, skins, and tallow on Tuesday, competition being good for all lines*. Hides: Market brisk. We quote —Extia stout ox 7-id to 7£d, stout ox Gjd to 7d, medium 6£d to 6|d ; cows best lines GJdto 6fd, good Gd to 6frd inferior 5A- to sfd ; stags, 5d to s£d; calfskins, best to B£d, good 61d to 7.id cut and damaged hides 3£d to 4sd. Sheepskins : Market brisk. Best butchers' skins picked, to 7s Gd, good i lines 5s IGd to 6s 8d medium 4s Gd to os, small 3s to 3s 9d : country dry skins large to 6s 6d, medium 3s Gd to 4s Bd, small Is 23 9d ; lambs and pelts Is6cl to Is 9d.
