AUCKLAND SPRING SHOW.
The .Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral . Association Spring Show opened on the new Campbell Show Grounds last Thursday, under unfavourable weather conditions, although during the second and third day the weather somewhat improved * The entries throughout were much larger than on previous years, and ■ the accommodation. was more ample and better situated than heretofore. "With the cultivation of the North 'the Auckland spring exhibition is vastly extending and in the very near future should vie with the greatest agricultural exhibitions of the Dominion such as Palmerston North and Christchurch. 'Although the show was spread over three days very little progress was made the first day.; the judging being coufined to harness and saddle horses. The second day, Friday was the big day of the Show as far as judging was concerned, when
all the cattle, sheep, pigs, and most of
■ /- the horses came before the judges; r^,; Saturday being th 6 '"peoples day" j and the weather being fine there was . a record attendance^jjie main features "being the parade/oi stock and the ring events and/hunting competitions. ; A number of people visited Auckland fecrajhis district during the first and second H§fc/Dut on the third day the *?. ho£&dn>T' extra large. ~^-v #y^Jfc,; yer^e not a great many entries —> 4axfil!£%xM district, but in the prize list we notice that Mr J. Newmans' Puni took 3rd prize in the class for ■ Boy's Pony, 14 hands ; while in the class for two horse farm -teams Mr E. ' Nicholls secured the red ribbon for Iris beautifully matched pair of greys Bonny arid Bess. In the special classes, Private A. McLeod, A Squadron, 3rd A.M.R. (Helensville), got second prize in the Leading _ Competition for Mounted Eifie Territorials; Corp. L. McLeod's team took first in the Best Section of Four Mounted Eifle Territorials, the team consisting of Corp. L. McLeod, John Hand, P. "Williams, and A, Me- . Leod; Miss Rattie Donovan came ■ second in the Best Lady Eidor (divid- '■ ed skirts) ;.J, Eeynard's Federal was third in Ladies' Hack. In the cattle classes Mr E, Nicholls' - • Prince of Kabibinakka, took second ■ ; place in the Pedigree Holstein Bull class, and in the Grade Holstein ■; Cow of any age, E. Nicholl's Parakai Queen was very highly recommended.
