: .-Sir.John Findlay's meeting, at K&wruera was presided over on Friday w.eet last by Miss TrQagear, and in jo trodiieing the candidate she had something interesting to say about the value of the female franchise. Independent of party, she said, they •wanted a man who could,' as the Yankees say: " Make good." She '> used the word "we," because nowas days the married woman had (wo votes —her own and her husband's. She hoped they would not be misled with the silly cries of Government v. Opposition. North v. South, Auckland v. Wellington. They should emulate the brave days of old that Macaulay talked about, when none "were for party and all were fortho State, and Sir John Findlay she believed was the type of man -sincere and straight-forward—-that they wanted. . Warner's Bust-proof Corsets never fail to improve the figure. For that hacking cough at night take Ton king's Linseed Emulsion. From all chemists and stores. Is 6d, 2s 6d, 4s Gd
