SPECIAL MEETING.

A special meeting of the Board was held on Monday evening. Present: Messrs Jas. (Stewart (chaiiman), J. A. Wilson, A. Becroft. .- Mr A. J, Wilson moved, and Mr. A, Becroft seconded " That the Special Order as read be passed. " carried.

ORDINARY MEETING,

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board commenced at 8 o'clock.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

A letter frdm the Marine Department re storage tank, in connection with drainage scheme.

Mr Munrb Wilson wrote forwarding plan showing the proposed outlet for sewer near Railway Bridge, Pipitivrai. Stating that he was riot sure of the Marine Department's requirements, and asking that the plan along with an accompanying letter applying for permission to construct a tank on the Bank of the Kaipara River, and empjjyvfche overflow of sewage at the jfS^jpkidicated on plan, be sent. > The* Chairman stated the plan and application-had been forwarded to the Marine Deaprtment,

Letter stating that Loan for £1000 Had been Gazetted.

Letter from Gas Co., asking Board to supply barrels for carriage of tai\ Barrels to be supplied.

Letter from Morningside Quarrys, Ltd., acknowledging order for 25 yards of metal, which, would be forwarded at the earliest possible date.

Mr Hafford, sanitary inspector re^ ported that he had inspected the Helensville Hotel yard and drains and lotind everything had been carried out in accordance with Inspector's directions, He drew attention to the bad state of the continuation of the drain "beyond the Railway line, which was broken in several places. Tho attention of the Inspector of Perman ent-Ways had been drawn to this, and he is going.to see what could be done, A letter ' from the District Health Officer, was read, drawing attention to a dangerous nuisance caused in the neighbourhood of the new batter factory at Helensville South. Enclosing copy of Inspector Gneve's report recommending (as a temporary measure until sewers are laid) that a soak hole be dug at the end of the drain and properly covered over. The secretary of the Kaipara Dairy Factory.Co., wrote drawing attention to the same nuisance. It was resolved that a notice be sent to Mr Downer, owner of the houses from where-the drainage discharges on the .Factory, and that a copy of Health report also be forwarded him. Mr Becroft asked when Mr Munro Wilson would be able to instruct those who were putting in now drains as to the best position, so as not to bo pui to extra expense in having to displace them when the town drainage wns commenced. The Chairman said that Mr "Wilson •would be asked to attend to the matter. Accounts paid between meetings axnountingto £25 12s 2d were passed ; and accounts amounting to £28 15s 7d were passed for payment. The Secretary stated there were rates outstanding > amounting to £260 to come in, DOMAIN BOARD. The Domain Board met afterwards Present Messrs J. Stewart (Chairman) J. A. Wilson, A. Becioft and Jas. McLeod. The Chairman alluding to the recent Swimming Carnival at "the baths thought it would be advisable to issue admittance tickets at future affairs of the kind. The secretary was instructed to write the Swimming Club to that effect. The Chairman stated he had visited the Springs at intervals during the month, and foun'd everything satisfactory. Mr Jas, McLeod was the visiting inspector for November. A letter from the Waitemata Cpun cil ro state of road from Swing bridge to the Springs, stating that,the bad state of the road was owing to the Board carting, scoria duriug - wet weather ; the road liad been repaired Tby the Council. The secretary was authored to procure implements asked .for by the gardner. The Chairman suggested wide'nhg the entrance to the grounds. Suggestion 'to be conaidered. It was decided that the Board advef tise the Springs, in the A. and P. Show schedule, and got analysis of the water printed on balance of cards in hand.

Accounts paid between meetings. amounting to £52 Os 7d were passed, and accounts ataounting 1 to £45 15s lOd were passed for payment.
