NINTH ANNUAL MEETING.
The ninth annual meeting of the Auckland Farmers 'Union was held in the Parochial Hall, "Whangarei, on Wednesday, 6, at 8 p.m., Mr Maurice Harding, of Hore Hore, Aratapu, chairman of the Board of Directors, occupying the chair, and there being present aJarge number of shareholders including settlers from the Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Whangarei, Hobson, Otamatea and Waitemata counties.
The chairman read the annual report which showed an increased turnover in all departments on the previous year of £19,000. During the year 3501 new ordinary and preference shares have been allotted, with a total increase in the Capital Account of £4059. The'profit'. and loss account showed a credit balance fortho year's working of £3490 7s 3d, which with balance brought forward from last year of £1262 8s Sd gives as available on 30th June, 1911, for distribution £4762.16s lOd. They recommended a dividend of 8 per cent., and a rebate allowance of 25 per cent, on stock commissions to shareholders ; write off furniture and fittings £20 9s lOd, good-will £150, premises £436 13s Id ; leaving a balance to be carried forward of £1861 18s Id:
The report stated that the venture
of starting new business in Helensville had proved satisfactory, the Union having received a fair amount of support from local setters, who have also joined the Company as shareholders, and the new yards there ar6 now in use. Sale yards have also been commenced, at Pakotai, in the Mangakahia district. - • ■
The chairman commented at some length on the report and matters pertaining to the expansion of business of the Union, his remarks being well recived., ',
The manager, Mr Crane, also coufmented on-the report, and gave a. resume of the years business, and in conclusion emphasised the satisfac* tory nature of the balance sheet, ana paid a tribute to tho efficiency of the staff both outside and inside. He stated instructions to officers were to go out into the field and do business ; be keen, but clean, as they had no desire to conduct business except it was on clean, sound, commercial lines.
