MASONIC BALL.
DUKE OF ALBANY LODGE,
No. 2073, E.O.
The 27th Anniverearv Ball of the
above Lodge was held in the Foresters' Hall on Wednesday evening last, September 13th, when there were about 90 couples present, and the officers and brethren are to be congratulated on its marked success. The Hall had been very tastefully decorated with nikau palms and white lilies around a number of mirrors on the walls, while lycapodiuin was stretched from each corner of the Hall, and fastened in festoons in the centre from which hung Chinese lanterns, and was a credit to the committee of ladies and gentlemen Mho carried it out.; The floor also had -received attention, and was m good condition.
\ The Grand March was led off at 8.'30 p.m., by Bt. Wor. Bro. W. W. Daw, District Grand Secretary, and" officers in full regalia, and the ladies,', whose dresses weie all very pretty and perhaps the most fashionable yet grac? ing the floors of the Foresters' Hall, completed a particularly charmingpicture, presenting one mass of;gaiety and splendour, inspirited by the music of, ''La Militaire's," after which the dancers formed into sets of Lancers to the tune of "Bohemian Girl," and the Ball was set going for a lengthy progiamme which was not concluded till peep-o:day. * The music, as supplied %y Meredith's orchestra of five instruments, was really delightful, and contributed largely to the success achieved both, tune and music selected meriting praise from the merry-makers, especially those pieces in which the canaries' whistles were introduced. Bros. W. F, Sandin, A, M. Hammond, J. Mackie, and G. Sellars, were the Masters of Ceremonies, and diligently discharged their duties the whole evening, while Bro. J. C. Eimmer ably discharged the secretarial work. The supper room was decorated with bunting and evergreens, and laid to seat about 86 couples to a knife and fork .supper. The tables were laden with tho usual tasty trifles, etc., which followed fat turkey and eueh like, set out in praiseworthy style by the caterer, Mr Cain, and when all ■were seated the room presented such another gay scene as the opening Grand Match, As before stated the dresses were both costly and pretty, and frith the kindly assistance of several ladies we were able to get the following, and apologise to those whom we have missed:—
