[united press ASSOCIATION. 1 Invercargill, December 20. Joseph Rouassie, an Italian, was shot dead while on a trip down the estuary yesterday. Severa l boya who were near heard a shot and a cry, and found deceased near a boat with a gnushot wound in the breast. One barrel of the gun was discharged. It is believed the trigger caught through Ronassie pulling the weapon over the gunwale. He leaves several children whose mother left her husband some time ago. Deceased saw service under Garibaldi. Auckland, December 19. Two of Josejih JYlaspfield's children were drowned while bathing at Kai. para. The bodies were recovered. Wellington, December 20. Leases of eight sections of newly reclaimed land adjoining the Queen's "Wharf, being a portion of the Y7el!ington Harbor Board's endowment, were sold by auction to-dny. The leases are for 21 years, and the lot brought the annual rental of £BB4. Prices ranged from 35s to 67s per foot. W. R. Waters, commission agent, has filfd his schedule. Liabilities to unsecured creditors, £757 8s Id; secured, £3015; contingent liabilities, £1287; total, £11,258 8s Id; aasets, £5002.
