GENERAL SUMMARY. (Dates from Europe to November 22nd.) London, November 22. Hampton Court Palace was set on fire on November 19 by the bursting of a lamp, and the fiie staried in the apartments abutting on the Tennis Court. All these were destroyed. The report of the Middlesbotough Chamber of Commerce, shows that the British steel rails are diiving the German out of the market. The Socialists marched on November 22 from fifteen outlying points to Trufilgar Square. The various bodies were headed by bands of music and carried banners inscribed "B 7 heaven, our rights are worth fighting for !" and "Work for all." Over "Wotk for none" some of the pa'ade.rs earned Phryginn caps on poles. Crossing Westminster bridge bands plaved the "Marseillaise" at the Government offices, and the attaches were hooted. Passing through Downing street the piocession hissed Lord Randolph Churchill, and fairly howled with rage at the sight of the Horse Guaids. When speaking begun at the Square 5000 Socialists, 25,000 unemployed workmen, and 25,000 spectator were present, ilyndman, Champion, and Burns spoke. There were five platforms, at each of which resolutions were adopted calling upon the Government to relieve the distress existing among workmen. The deputation then proceeded to Lord Silisbtiry's house and left a copy of the resolutions. They grumbled at not finding the Premier at home. The meeting dispersed in an orderly manner, but, the police had difficulty in clearing the Square. The Lord Mayor proposes a commissisn of inquiry into the, pie-vailing distress with a view of affording relief during the coming winter. Experimental postal anangements for the transport of Ameiican mails have been made by the British Government with the Inman, Guion, and North German Lloyd Steamship Lines, contracting for thiee months onlv. News was received in London on the 20th of a disastrous fiie in the town of Sondo on the Pasig River, in the Island of Tazon, the largest of the Philippine Group. A thousand houses were burned.
Lord Randolph Chuichill created a tremendous sensation by denouncing the London Corporation. He told the members that although being in control of the Metropolis this tepieseuted in fact but a small fraction of its population, and intimates that his solution of the metropolian government difficulty would be the transfer of power to a central representative body. This is considered another move by Churchill to push himself forward at the expense of the Prime Minister. The National convention of the Irish Nationalists at Liverpool on November 7 is reported to have been large as to numbers and imposing in influence.
John Dillon M.P., reports that many of the largest landlords have recently shown a disposition to act far more reasonably than in 1880, although n number of them refuse to make any reduction and press the tenants for rent. Some members of the Parnell party are al.-o pushing their tenants remorselessly. Among these ar<; Sir Joseph Nt';il M'Kenim, member for Monaghan, and Wm. J. Corbett, M.P. for the east division of the county of Wicklow. These Parnellites and scores of smaller landlords of the same party are serving writs and evicting by wholesale, resistance to winch is "rowilg sr.ronypr and .stroller !;, a ; ! \n\v':~ cf Ireland.

To the Hop Bitters Co. : Sirs—l write this as a token of the great appreciation T have for your Bitters.
