NARROW ESCAPE OF THE GREAT EASTERN.

When the big ship was entering Holyhead harbour on Sunday evening October 10th, the wind was blowina violently from the north-north-west, and before the anchor could be got out the ship was nearly driven on the rocks on the most dangerous coast, known as the Turkey shore. About a quarter-past one the Great Eastern was moored safely off the Holyhead breakwater, and she was held by three great anchors and powerful chain cable. Even then there was danger, and the tugs that had accompanied the Great Eastern from Liverpool to Holyhead were employed during the night in removing out of her way vessels anchored near her in the harbour. The vessel ai rived in Dublin Bay at an early hour on Thursday morning, anchoring midway between Howth and Kingstown H.ibour. The voyage from Holyhead bad occupied nearly 15 hours.
