KUMARA HOSPITAL.
The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening; present— The Chairman (Mr Burger), ViceChairman (Mr Voysey), Messrs Dungan, Maloney, Payne, W. Morris, and Zies;ler.
The minutes of the previous meetiri" "were read and confirmed.
THe outward correspondence was rend and approved of. The inward correspondence was read and received, and considered. A telegram, dated 6th instant, was read from Mr W. D. Banks (Town Clerk, Hokitikfl) stating that Mr Joseph Mandl had hn»n elected a trustee for the Kurnaru Hospital, and representative of the Hokitiki Barou-h Council.—Received. A letter was rtcsived from Mr John Wooldridge resigning his position as a member of the Board of Tmsteos. The resignation wa:i received and agrend to.
The Wurdsmaii's report for the month of November wan read and received. It showed that the total number of inpatients treated during the month v.>* 13, of which thiee were dischi.rsed am! one died, leaving nine in the institution on the last day of the inontb.
Owen M Nally, suffering from cancel' in the eye, was discharged unrelieved; Henry Healy, of.acute rheumatism, and John Murphy, of bronchitis, were discharged cured; John Whiston, of general debility, died ; nrid the following remained in the hospital :—James Wilson, suffering from general debility; Joseph Pfaff, rheumatism; Patrick Clune, congestion of lungs, &c.; John Rouse, rheumatic gout; Andiew Carlstrom, paraplegia ; Alex. Miller, hemiplegia; Charles Johnson, bronchitis; &c; Mis Gebhardt, amaurosis; Arthur Blake, abscesses in leg. The number of attendances for out-door relief was 31.
Accounts to the amount of £234 2s, including balance to Mr G. A. Bell, contractor for building lesidence for suigeon-fUpcrintendeut (subject to approval of Building Committee), were passed for payment.
The House Committee were empowered to enter into an agreement with Dr. M'Brearty, re insurance and repairs to doctor's residence; and to perfect premises. And the Chairman was authorised to take the necessary steps to insure the surgeon-superin-tendent's lesidence.
The Secretary was instructed to write to the Trustees in the estate of John Whiston re his maintenance whilst in ihe hospital. Mr Ziegler was elected on the House Committee in place of Mr Dungan.
Receipts were handed in as follows : By Mr J. Wooldiidee, £lO ; MrSalvatore Gargniio, £1; Visitors' donations, £1 2s—total, £l2 2s.
