NEW YEAR'S DAY CHILDREN'S PICNIC.
A public meeting was held in the Town Hull last evening for the purpose of arranging for the Children's Annual Picnic on New Year's Day. There was a goodly attendance, his Worship the Mayor being present. Mr Seddon, Chairman of the Local School Committee, presided.
Mr G. R. Rndkin, who so ably officiated in the same capacity last year, was appointed Secretary. The following gentlemen were nominated and appointed a committee of management:—The Mayor and Borough Councillors ex officio, the Local School Committee and school teachers ex officio, Masars Palmer, Jks. Morgan, Valentine, J anion, R. Bell, J. Caldwell, T. Martin, Hope, R. and J. Howe, Walker, Thompnon, Crebar, Draper, Jus. Bnrrell, C. Patrick, Dr. M'Brearty, H. Griffiths, W. Nicholson, C. Pier, son, T. Levett, H. Johnsen, T. Oliver, J. S. Benyon, R. Johnson, Hewitt, Wells, T. Morgan, Pearn, Rugg, Home, Langridge, Greenroyd, R. and N. Rothwell, T. Brown, Jas. Jamieson, F. Henne, Stevenson, H. Ellery, W, H. Brown, J. Pearson, Dt-rbridge, R, Kilgoui, Blaxall, W. Morris, A. Williamaon, O. Egden; with power to add to their number.
It was resolved that an entertainment take place on New Year's night to raise funds for the puipose of the
picnic; also that subscription lists be printed to give to the children to collect.
His Worship the Mayor, Messrs Seddon, Voysey, and Kudkin (Secretary) were appointed to wait upon Messrs Keech and Malloy asking for the use of their paddock. The Chairman and Secretary were deputed to write to the Brass Baud asking their services. The question of constmcting a platform for dancing was Hffirmed.
It was resolved to have three refreshment stalls, for the sale of liquor, fruit, and tea and coffee, same as last year; the Chairman and Secretary to interview Mr Rngg in reference to the Use of the Merrygo-Round. The Mayor, Chairman, Secretary, and Messrs Voysey, Munro, Palmer, and Valentine were appointed a subcommittee to interview the various business people for supplying necessaries.
The meeting was then adjourned till next Friday, the Chairman commenting upon the enthusiastic way in which the matter had been taken up this year, Messrs R. E. Wylde R. Kilgonr, H. Hope, and 0. Edgen were requested to act with Mrs G. B. Way in the matter of a dramatic performance at the enter tainment.
