The trial of Stoddart Campbell, the defaulting teller of the Bank of Australasia, was concluded to-day and resulted in Campbell being acquitted. (Received December 4, 12.50 p.m.)

The negotiations between the Government and the Telephone Exchange Company relative to the purchase of the company's business by Government are broken off. The Postmaster-Gen-eral has anuounced that Government will establish a separate Telephone Exchange. The Trades and Labour Council has rejected, by a large majority, the tnotiou proposed by its secretary for approval that an Exhibition be held in 1888.
