VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
The monthly meetiog of the Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening; present—Lieut. Anderson (in the chair) Firemen Brnyshaw, Smith, Martha, Ziegler, Rodkin, Stevenson, Howe, Valentine, M'Mahon, Meiklejohn, Gebhardt, Martin, and Stubbs. The minutes of the previous meeting vrere read and confirmed.
Mr Schaivi was unanimously elected a member of the Brigade. A small account of 8s was passed for payment. The Treasurer's balance showed a credit of 7s Id.
The various officers reported gear in good working order. Captain Burger, Lieut. Anderson, Treasurer Brayshaw, Fireman M'Ewen, and Secretary Rudkin were appointed to arrange the preliminaries for the New Year's Eve demonstration; and the Secretary was instructed to ask the Catholic Brass Band to play as usual on the occasion.
It was resolved that the competition at the Christmas Sports be as follows :
Fire Brigade Competition, for members of the Knmara Volunteer Fire Brigade only.—Six men to stand 50 yards from engine. At signal from starter, to run to engine and fix on two lengths of suction-hose and strainer ; one 50 feet length of delivery hose ; fix branch and pump water over rope 10 feet high; make up all gear as at starting. It was also resolved that the following be the competing teams:— No. 1. No. 2. Brayshaw Smith M'Ewen Murtha M'Mahon Stevenson Gebhardt Meiklejohn Close Stubs Howe. Schaivi. The receipts to members' fund amounted to 19s.
