A SALE OF WORK and GIFT AUCTION on behalf of the WESLEY AN CHURCH will take place at the Theatre Royal, on THURSDAY and FRIDAY, the 23rd and 24th December. We shall from you most thankfully receive Whatever you may feel disposed to givePins, needles, bodkins, thread, or tape, Of any colour, size, strength, or shape, With stuff for making pinafores or frocks, Hats, bonnets, shawls, and little children's socks ; All kind of stockings, gloves, and mittens, too, Grey, white, black, speckled, brown, or blue ; With handkerchiefs of every kind and size— Ribbons and buttons, snaps, or hooks and eyes! All kinds of ornaments and pretty toys, To please the taste of little girls and boys. And try us, just to see if we'll refuse, Combs, brushes, boots, or any kind of shoes. But if you think that you can better spare A set of china or some earthenware, Then plates and dishes, saucers, cups, and mugs, Pitchers and basins, pint and half-pint j|'gs ; Knives, forks, and scissors, if you please to give, With steels and spoons, we'll thankfully receive; Books, pictures, prints, need not be left behind, Nor anything instructive to the mind. Loaves, cakes, or cheese-cakes, and good things withal, We humbly ask for a refreshment stall. Geese, ducks, and fowls, with rabbits, too; Pigeons, singing-birds, parrots, and cockatoos. And if you will not think us bold, Pig, cows, horses, hay also can be sold. And now, kind friends, we think you'll see by this No kind of articles will come amiss. We hope no one will be disposed to say, "I've nothing for you: call some other day." Contributors are requested to forward their Gifts to the Wesleyan Parsonage not later than December 4th. PRELIMINARY NOTICE. A VOCAL and DRAMATIC ENTERTAINMENT in aid of the CHILDREN'S PICNIC FUND will be given on NEW YEAR'S NIGHT, at the Theatre Royal. Particulars will be given in a future issue. R. J.
