Wellington, November 17,
A somewhat mysterious affair has just come to light. A man named Henry Andrew, employed as assistant in a drapery establishment in town, died in the Hospital to.day in terrible agony from burns received about a week ago. By some means his bed took fire and he was severely burned about the stomach and chest, but notwithstanding he went about his business until attention was called to his state by the stench arising from his burns festering. Medical aid was called in and his immediate removal to the Hospital was ordered, where he died. The singular thing is that no one in the house in which he lodged knew anything about the aff.ir, although about the time a smell of burning was noticed.
Nelson, November 17
The corner stone of the new cathedral church was laid to-day by the Bishop of Nelson, in the presence of a large concourse of people. The building is expected to be opened early in February.
