"Captain Moonlight" and two accomplices have been arrested at Boheabue, County Cork, Ireland. The European beetroot crop is estimated to yield two and a-half million tons. (Received October 12, 12.5 p.m.) Sofia, October 11. The elections for the Grand Sobranje, or National Assembly, for the choice of a Prince for Bulgaria, commenced yesterday throughout the country. At one polling-place in this city to-day, one hundred and fifty peasants, acting under the initiative of Necklindoff, the Russian Consul, attempted to obstruct the proceedings. A serious conflict resulted between the adherents to the Regency and the supporters of the Consul, and in the melee many persons were wounded. The disturbance assuming a serious character, the gendarmerie were called out, and the rioters were dispersed. (Received October 12, 1.40 p.m.) Later. Tim Government party are securing a crushing victory at the elections, and will have a very large majority in the Sobranje. The Russian consul's principal town in the provinces has been endeavouring to prevent the elections proceeding.
