WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The Westland Waste Lands Board tret at Hokitika on Wednesday last, at 2 p.m.; present —The Chief Com" missioner (Gerhard Mueller, Esq.), and Messrs Bevan, Paterson, Kerr, and Matheson. The following applications dealt with from this part of the district are reported in the West Const Times : Application 592.—C. E, Montagu and J. G. D. Wilson, hy their agent W. Duncan, for a timber area lease near Cape Terrace.—Resolved on the motion of Mr Matheson, seconded by Mr Bevan, that the Board agree to grant a lease to the applicants of 20 acres for a term of five years at the rental of £1 per acre per annum, but that applicants must have area surveyed and boundaries cut by an - authorised surveyor; place to be handed in to the Board not later than the first meeting in November. Application 593.—Robert Millson, by his agent W. Duncan, protesting against improvements being made on land at Teremakan by Mr M'Connon, and requesting the Board to put a stop to same.—Mr M'Connon appeared personally to contest this application and stated that he did not effect any improvements until the example had been set by Mr Millson, who had felled eight, acres of bush on sections 621 and 622 some two months before he started his felling.—Proposed by Mr Bevan, seconded by Mr Paterson and carried that Mr Millson’s application be deferred for consideration when land is open for selection. Mr M'Connon was informed that no farther improvements would be allowed in the block besides the two already fixed. Mrs James Nicholas, wife of James Nicholas, jun., deceased, was granted permission to transfer on deferred payment, sections 17 and 21 to John Billon, after due notice, advertised, etc. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported receipt of £79 15s 2d for the period. The Board then adjourned.
