LATER FROM KIMBERLEY.

THE GOLD ESCORT. SILVER MINING. A cablegram from Perth, Western Australia, to-day, seems to bear out a late Port Darwin telegram which appears in the Newcastle Evening Call of the 10th insfc., which states that all the mon on the Kimberley field are getting J-oz. to 3oz. per day, besides nuggets. Arrivals from Kimberley state that they disbelieve it, as nothing was heard about it at Wyndbam. These men seem to be decent, hardworking people; some are going south.. Many are expecting work on the railway contracts; they expect a large number to come here seeking work. They report that one vessel has arrived at Cambridge Gulf, with a large cargo of stores, material, &c. Knowing the discouraging reports, she returned without discharging her cargo. This week's escort brings down 1050 ounces, including 391 ounces from 26 tons of quartz, from the rich leaders in Mullen's Christmas claim, which represents several months' work. Twelve meu for one month's work gob 129 onnces from 22 tons of stone. Glowing accounts are given of the appearance of the Eveleen silver mine ; the first return is expected in about six weeks' time. Robinson's silver claim is opening up well. Solomon's claim, near Eveleen, is turning out good stone, and frequent reports are received of fresh discoveries, but the localities and particulars are suppressed.
