COGILL BROTHERS' AMERICAN MINSTRELS.
The Conill Brothers' American Minstrels gave their first and only performance in this town at the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening. There wnsfi very fair attendance of "the public. The peformance opened with the usual Ethiopian circ'e : Tambourine, Mr Chas. W. Cngill; Bones, Mr J. Gilmore; and Conversationalist, Mr Harry P. Gnnrill. The songs and ballads were lii»hly appreciated, and the conundrums and witticisms of the corner men brought forth much laughter. The songs of Messrs H. P. CogiU and Alfred Maisou were much approved of as also were the chorines. The first part of the entertainment was brought to a close with a humorous pl«ntat?on scene, in which most of the members of 'he company took part, Mr C. W. Cgill, sustaining the principal charac<cr, and causing a goo i deal of meniment with his drolleries. T!i- second part consiated of a Medley, followed bv h» Ethopwn sketch, entitled " Millions m it," which were well received An amusing « Chit Chat " between tho brothers Co-ill, in which song«, dances, l*ng!nble situations, ; ,nd 'grotesque witticisms were introduced, completed the Ethiopean p-rform anc.es; which then wound up with the fuce of "The Mystery," introducing Miss- T Mnn ] PV Messrs C. and 11. Cogid, J. Gilmore", and J. J. Quest. The company left, in yesterday after-
noon's tram for Greymoutb, where they play for two nights, and then proceed to Reefton.
