PARLIAMENTARY.
HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. HOKITIKA-GREYMOUTH RAILWAY [united press association.] ■Wellington, July 28. Mr Sutter moved that ihe item, Greymouth to Hokitika, £75,000, be struck out. He said no money had yet been expended on this line and it whr not required. Mr Guinness said it whs not a new work. The sum of £30,200 had been spent on this line. Mr Hursthonse did not believe a single member from the West Coast would honestly say that this railway would pay the interest on the cost of construction. He did not think it would pay one per cent, when completed. The only railway that would pay at present, in his opinion, was that between Wellington and Napier.
