RATES OF POSTAGE VIA SUEZ AND BRINDISI.
' ! By aii order 'in CbUridil 'dated 28th October, 1884, the, rates of postage on correspondence' transmitted via Suez and Bvindifei are in future to be as follow : l; That; dn and after'-tire fifteenth day ■of November next, the rate of "postage to be paid on all letters, book-packets, and newspapers'transmitte'd f rofolNew Zealand to. any pkce in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland by way of Suez and Brindisi shall be and ,'ttie, same is hereby died as'herein set forth, that is to say—\ On all letters, one shilling per halfi ounce or fraction of half an ounce i; On .all book-packets and parcels, threepence for every two ounces or fraction of two ounces ; On all newspapers, twopence each. The said postage shall, in all such cases, be. prepaid in New Zealand by postagestamps, to be affixed upon .the covers of the letters, book packets, or newspapers so sent. 2, That on all correspondence received in New Zealand in mails despatched from the United Kingdom on and after the date aforesaid, and which has not been prepaid in postage-stamps at the foregoing rates, a surcharge equal to -the equivalent of tha difference between the rates aforesaid and the postage actually affixed to the correspondence shall be made. The said postage shall be payable on all such letters, book-packets, and newspapers tin dolivury in the colony to the pasonse to whom the same are addressed.
