RATES OF POSTAGE VIA SUEZ AND BRINDISI.

% an order in Council dab-d 28th October. 1884, the rates of posbje on correspondence transmitted via Suez and Brindisi are in future to be as follow : 1. That, on and after the fifteenth day of November next, the rate of postage to be paid on all letters, book-packets,' and newspapers transmitted from New Zealand anyplace in tha United Kingdom (l f '••■:■■•.;: a:;d iu)i;>il bv w ;..- of ;-b;e;--■■■■^■->r\m[[ : :i sh-ili be and' the'same is :ii-vJ.>..* iued as herein set forth, that is to sayOn all letters, one shilling per halfounce or fraction of half an ounce ; On all hooi;-p;..td:e« and parcels, threepence for every two ounces or fraction of two ounces ; On all newspapers, twopence each. The said postage shall, in all such cases, be prepaid in Now Zealand by postagestamps, to be affixed upon t.he'covers°of the letters, book packets, or newspapers so sent. That on all correspondence received in Ne\v Zealand in mails despatched from 'be I nitetl Kingdom on and after the dare aforesaid, ;.nd which has not been prepaid in postage-stamps at the foregoing rates, a surcharge equal to the equivalent of the difference between tho rates aforesaid and the postage actually afiixed to the correspondence shall be made.
