[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1 Wellington, July 14, A young man named Robert Welby, employed at Luke and Sons' foundry, was seriously injured by a casting falling on bis head. He received concussion of the brain. There is still no news of the missing man, A. L. Levy. The police authorities in Sydney have been communicated with to ascertain if he is on the s.s. Hauroto, but no reply has yet been received. Rochfort, Government Engineer, writing from Karioi, states that on the 7th he saw a column of steam rising from Rimpehu, and observed smoke coming from the same mountain. The mtives are alarmed after the recent Tarawera eruptions. Auckland, July 14. At the icquest on the body of Mrs Nelson an open verdict was returned—- " Found drowned." Dunedin, July 14, A rich patch of gold is said to have been discovered at the Ctmliffe diggings under some overlying rock.
