[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright CRICKET. AUSTRALIANS V. THORNTON'S ELEVEN. (Received July 4, 10.30 p.m.) London, July 2. The Australian cricketers are now playing against eleven selected by Mr Thornton, at Chiswick. In the first iunings the visitors scored 545, Bruce being the highest scorer with 106. . (Received July 5, 0.40 a.m.) July 3. The match at Chiswick, between Thornton's eleven and the Australian cricketers was resumed, and concluded to-day. The first innings of the Home team closed for 157. Being 188 behind their opponents, the Englishmen followed on, and when the stumps weie drawn had put together 130 runs for the loss of six wickets. The match was declared drawn.
