No. 2 SLUDGE-CHANNEL COMPLETION.

[to the editor.] Sir—Will yon allow tue a small space in your valuable paper to make a few retuarlcß respecting the time it has taken to put sludge-channel No. 2 in operation. The tunnel took a long time in getting completed, and when it was finished, it could not lie worked before something was made to carry the flush water down channel No. 1 ; so Messrs Davidson Brothers took a contract to make and place certain-sized pipes, according to specification, to carry this flush water, and then sludge•hannel No. 2 could be used. Seeing how the tailings site of No. 1 is filling up and that No. 2 has got a very good site, would you not think the contractors would push on the work with all speed 1 But from what I hear they are not. Now I will allow you to judge. It is ten weeks last Monday since the contract was let for making those pipes, and the men that are making the pipes are placing them in the tunnel on Sundays and any time they wish to put in over-time, instead of a sufficient number of men beinw employed to complete the work as soon as possible. Perhaps Uie contractors will finish the pipes in the specified time; but, seeing how needful it is, would it not be better to employ more men and got it finished as soon as possible ?
