DRIVER AND STOKER KILLED. OFFICIALS AND OTHERS SEVERELY INJURED. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COLONIAL TREASURER'S STATEMENT. (Received July 1, 1.30 a.m.) Melbourne, June 30. The steamship Waihora arrived this evening, from the Bluff. The steamship Wairarapa sailed this afternoon, for the Bluff. Sydney, Jane 30. Arrived, this evening, the steamship Mariposa, from Auckland, with the inward San Francisco mail. Information has been laid against Wright, Heton, and other carriers, in connection with the recent railway frauds. (Received July 1, 1.15 p.m.) July 1. The Customs Bill was read a second time iu the Legislative Assembly last night, and passed by a majority of 55 to" 37. Hobart, July 1. While a special train was returning from the opening of the railway to Fingal yesterday, the train left the rails at a place about 20 miles from this city, and became, a complete wreck. The eugine was shattered, the driver being killed on the spot, and the stoker has since died of the injuries he received. Two carriages telescoped.- Amongst the passengers were MrDodd (AttorneyGeneral), Burgess (Colonial Treasurer), the Mayor and Aldermen, Press representatives, and several others who were all more or less seriously injured. The Premier, Dr. Agnew, was also severely shaken. (Received June 30, 1.30 p.m.) Adelaide, June 30. The Colonial Treasurer made his Financial Statement in the Legislative Assembly last night. The revenne for the past year amounts to £2,240,000, the expenditure to £2,390,000. The revenue is £386,000 below the estimate. The Customs decreased by £146.000, and the railway receipts by £BI,OOO. The total public d«bt amounts to £15,400,000. The levonne for the current financial year is estimated at £2,100,000, the expimdituie at £2,200,000. The total deficiency in the estimates is £.£85,200, which will lie covered by fresh taxation, amounting to £109,000, including stamp taxes (expected to mtlise £65,000), and by a considerable reduction in the Civil Service.
