GLADSTONE ADDRESSING MEETING IN LIVERPOOL. THE CANADIAN FISHERIES TREATY OP 1818. (Received June 29, 2.50 p.m.) London, June 28. Sir C. Tupper, Royal Commissioner from Canada, is instructed to confer with the Australian Agents-General regarding the proposed telegraph cable between Australia and Canada, and ascertain what subsidy the Australian Governments would guarantee towards such a cable. (Received June 30, 1.15 a.m.) Evening. It is announced that the Hon. Wm. Bede Dalley, of New South Wales, is appointed a member of the Most Hon. the Privy Council. A large party of visitors from the colonies are now on a tonr throughont England. Ou visiting Oxford today they were received by the Mayor and the Rev. B. Jowetl, Vice-Chancellor of the University, by whom they were escorted through the principal Colleges. The party have now gone to Leamington. Mr Gladstone addressed a public meeting at Liverpool last night. He recived a great ovation. He has since returned to Hawarden. (Received June 29, 8.15 p.m.) Ottawa, June 28. The Government has announced that its policy towards the United States in regard to the dispute which has arisen in connection with the Canadian fisheries is unchanged, and that the treaty of 1818 will be strictly adhered to.
