[UNITED PKESS ASSOCIATION. 1 Nelson, June 11. Information has been received from the Waian this afternoon that a survey party was coming in from the back country of the Upper Clarence when they were caught in a severe snowstorm. Two of the party, namely, Messrs Parske (cadet), and Hugh Thomson, (einun.uah) died from exposure. Mr F. ,'imiih, the district surveyor, and four hands were rescued by a reserve party from M'Arthur's St. James station. Some new and beautiful caves have been found on some land owned by Mr Abbott, at Takaka, Golden Bay. The caves contain a large number of moa bones, many of them in a very perfect state of preservation. Matthew Burnett took nearly 600 pledges in this distric'. advocate opened a five days' mission to-night. Theae was a crowded meeting, the Mayor in the chair. Over 100 pledges were taken.
