In order to give as much news as possible of the great volcanic eruption at Tarawera, a report of last night's Borough Council proceedings, and other matters, are held over. The remains of the late Mr Heinrich Buhmann were conveyed to the Cemetery this afternoon, followed by a large number of mourners and friends of the deceased. We acknowledge receipt of Hansard No. 2, also the Union Steamship Company's Pocket Guide for June. The boxing match which is to take place at the Theatre Royal to-morrow night is attracting considerable attention among the sporting community. Young Laurie is a fine up-standing young fellow, of good physique, and is a first-class allround athlete. It will no doubt be of interest to many to know of his record. At Blenheim, he walked seven miles in 53 minutes 49 seconds ; ran ten miles in 1 hour 5 minutes 8 seconds, doing the 17 miles in 1 minute 3 seconds under two hours. On the 22nd October, 1885, he ran from Blenheim to Picton, a distance of 20 miles, in 2 hours 8 minutes, doing the return journey (in all 40 miles) in 5 hours 5 minutes. In boxing, at Naseby, Laurie defeated J. M'Donald in 1 hour 28 minutes, for £SO a side ; at Blenheim, he beat Swash, for £ls a side, in seven rounds ; at Wellington, he beat T. Naish, for £2O a side, in five rounds ; at Ross, he defeated B. Ingram, in three rounds; at Hokitika, he defeated Joe Breeze in six rounds. Young Laurie will box J. Wright, at the Theatre Royal tomorrow night, and a very good contest is looked forward to, as Wright's abilities are well known here. Several local amateurs have also promised to don the mittens.
