A large number of guests were present, including fully 200 representative Colonists. Mr Green, one of the managing directors of the company, made a speech in which he dwelt on the loyalty manifested by [the Colouies to the Mother Country. A serious collision has occurred between Protestants and Catholics in Belfast, aud rioting continued for some time, in spite of the efforts of the authorities to restore order. ALLEGED ANNEXATION OP NEW HEBRIDES BY PRANCE. (Received June 9, 10.50 p.m.) Sydney, June 9. The W.tiliora arrived last night from New Zealand. The Marine B >ard inquiry into the cause of and circumstances attending the wreck of the Ly-ee-moon commenced to-day. From the evidence of U-.iptrtin W-bner, taken from his staie- ' ment regarding the course lie had | directed the third officer to steer, it v/.-.s olioit-d that, the slightest deviation from the set course would result in the wreck of the vessel.

In the course of tbe inquiry which was being held to-day by the Marine Board into the circumstances attending the loss of the Ly-ee-moon, after Cap* tain Webber had given his evidence and during the examination of Mr Fotheringtam, third officer, it was announced that qhe Judge granted an injunction preventing the Board from proceeding further with taking evidence as the deponents were under a criminal charge for manslaughter. The inquiry was consequently adjourned until Monday next. (Received June 9, 2.35 p.m.) Melbourne, June 9. The Premier, Mr Gillies, has received no information yet as to the alleged annexation of the Nsw Hebrides by France, and is still inclined [to discredit the report.
