BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The adjourned meeting of the Borough Council for the consideration of tenders for making a cuß’erb and cutting a drain on the Borough Reserve, and other matters, was held in the Town Hal! last, evening ; present—liis Worship the Mayor (H. Burger, Esq.), Councillors Anderson, Ziegler, MHlroy, Jorgensen, Maloney, and Killeen. DR AIX. Tenders for cutting a drain (16 chains) were opened, and dealt with as follows-.—Accepted ; L. Smith, £22. Declined ; If. Healey, £GS ; J. Cairns, £27 J. Wait, £2 17s GJ chain.

CULVERT. Tenders for making a culvert were opened and dealt with as follows: Accepted : James Morgan, £43 15s. Declined: W. Jones, £9O; H. Korman, £B6; H. MTnnes, £7O, Gukert, £7O; Murtha and Donnelly, £65; A. W. Qny, £49. CORRESPONDENCE. : A letter from Mr A. G. Campbell, Hon. Sec. to the School Committee, applying for the use of the Town Hall for meetings was considered, and the request granted. A letter from Mr R. M'Glone, complaining of his being asked to pay two licenses whilst others who had three and four drays had only one license was referred to the Borough Inspector. ACCOUNTS. Several accounts were passed for payment, and it was resolved that contractors be informed that for the future accounts will only be paid at the usual finance meetings, once a mouth. This concluded the business of the meeting.
