(Received June 2, 7.50 p.m.) Melbourne, June 2. Mr A, M‘Gregor, who was one of those drowned by the sinking of the Ly-ee-moon, is stated to be the son of a hotelkeeper at Dunedin. Sydney, June 2, Holt, the bank defaulter, was brought up and senteueed to hard labour at Darlinglmrst Gaol.. [The length of sentence is not given.] News is to hand from the New Hebrides stating that heavy gales lately prevailed there, causing serious damage to the plantations. (Received June 3, 1.15 p.m.) June 2. At the coroner’s inquest held yesterday on the victims of the Ly-ee-moon disaster, the jury found that the wreck was caused by gross neglect, but there was not sufficient evidence before them to point out the guilty persons. Fotheriugham, who was in charge of i he bridge when the vessel struck, has been arrested on a charge of manslaughter. Albany, May 31. The P. and O. Company’s steamship Tasmania arrived at King Georg"’s Bound this arornoon, with London mails to April 30.
