A meeting of the policy-holders of the Australian Mutual Provident Society was held last night to consider the proposal to establish a branch office in London. Owing to the wet weather there was only a small attendance. A resolution was pnssed opposing the proposal to establish a London branch. Heavy rains are general throughout the colony. May 29. New Zealand wheat, 4s per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 4d; maize 561bs, 3s sd. (Received May 31, 1.15 p.m.) May 31. News came to hand this morning of a serious marine disaster which occmred on the New South Wales coast last night. The steamer Ly-ee-Moon, belonging to the Australian Steam Navigation Company, which left Melbourne for Sydney on Saturday evening, had proceeded as far as Green Cape, a little to the northward of Cape Howe, when she struck on an outlying point, and became a wreck. The particulars to hand are only of a meagre nature, but so far as can be learned, only fifteen persons are saved. (Received May 31, 1.45 p.m.) Melbourne, May 31. News is to hand by telegraph from the lighthouse keeper at Gabo Island stating that(the steamer Ly-ee-Moon, bound from Melbourne to Sydney,' struck on a reef near Green Cape at one o'clock last night, and has completely broken up. No details are yet to hand, but it is stated that so far only ten persons are known to be saved. It is announced that the Victorian Government has consented to join the International Copyright Convention. It has been arranged that the reduction of the tariff for cable messages between England and Australia shall commence on the Ist July next. (Received May 29, 1.15 a.m.) Adelaide, May 28. Shipping oats, 4s 9d to 4s lOd per bushel, show a firm tendency. Adelaide town flour, £lO 5s per ton • country ditto, £9 7s Gd.
