BOROUGH BYE-LAWS.

[to the editor.] Sie—l wish to call attention to the fact that your advertisement sheet contains one of the most amusing pieces of assurance that has ever been perpetrated by a public body. Is it possible that the sapient Borough Councillors believe that the burgesses will allow them to sweep away all the safeguards which the Legislature has placed around the liberty and property of the people, and will allow them to alter and repeal laws at their sweet pleasure, and by merely giving seven days’ notice that they have done so ? Fancy these wise men of Goshen making a bye-law to empower themselves to alter and repeal bye-laws. The only excuse is that the proposal was made and seconded by two councillors who have a very imperfect knowledge of the English language. But where were the other councillors? — Yours, &c., Englishman. Kumara, May 15, 18SG.
