REPORT OF THE BOROUGH AUDITORS. io his Worship the Mayor and Members of the Borough Council. Gentlemen—\Ve, the undersigned auditors, heg to report that we hav c.m'fmly examined the books and accounts of the Town Clerk and Treasurer fo the financial year ending on the 31st of March, and compared the same wit! the bank book and vouchers and the minutes of the Council, and we have foam them correct in every particular. Wo regret to find on the books a balance of a considerable amount due foi lates of foi mer years, and we would suggest the advisability of taking steps fo the recovery of the same, or have them written off. We wish to draw your attention to the fact that during the last year £1 were received for hawkers’ licenses, which in our opinion is an insignifican small sum, considering the number of hawkers of al' sorts who constantly fa low their different occupations in the Borough. We have also reason to believe that there are more drays plying for hire i 'he Borough than what pay licenses, but as we cannot from the hooks learn th names of the owners of the same, we must leave yon to get further informatio "ii the subject from your Inspector. We are, Yours respectfully, WILLIAM WIESNER, 1 „ JOHN HANNAH, j Kumara, April 20, 1886.
