HOSPITAL EASTER FETE.
THE SPORTS. There was a fair attendance at the sports at the Recreation Ground on Tnesday. Tho Brass Band was in attendance, and played lively airs and dance music during the afternoon, ami a goodly number of young persons availed themselves of the large floor that was laid for having several good dances. Of the athletic sports the principal was the handicap foot race, which resulted as follows; Handicap Foot Race.—loo, 200, 300, and 440 yards. Points, 4,3, 2, 1. First prize, £4; second, £2; third, £l. 100 YARDS. S. Sherman, scratch ... 1 F. Smith, 5 yards ... 2 G. Sherman, 7 yards ... 3 W. Schulstad, 5 yards ... 4 200 YARDS. G. Sherman, 10 yards ... 1 S. Sheiman, scratch ... 2 F. Smith, 7 yards ... 3 W. Hobbs, 7 yards ... 4 The brothers Sherman tied for first place, which the younger gave to the elder. 300 YARDS. G. Sherman, 10 yards ... 1 F. Smith, 10 yards ... 2 S. Sherman, scratch ... 3 440 YARDS. S. Sherman, scratch ... 1 G. Sherman, 8 yards ... 2 F. Smith, scratch ... 3 T. Green, 20 yards ... 4 The result, therefore, was that S. Sherman took first prize, G. Sherman second, and F. Smith third. The following other events are worthy of record : Standing High Jump.—First prize, 15s; second, 10s; third, ss. T.
