[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright, HAWKESBURY* RACE CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING. A JOCKEY KILLED. SCOTT-EDWARDS SIX DAYS’ PEDESTRIAN MATCH FOR £4OO. (Received April 19, la.m.) Sydney, April 17. The second day’s races of the Hawkesbury Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting came off to-day. The principal event of the card was the Hawkesbury Autumn Handicap, a mile and a half, for which a field of twelve horses faced’ the starter. A grand race took place, ending in Lancer securing first place by a length, Bonnie Bee second, Cerise and Blue third. Time, 2mins. 38i secs. April 18. A fatal accident occurred at Hawkesbury race meeting yesterday to a jockey named Flanagan, who was thrown from his horse and killed. The six days’ walking match terminated at midnight yesterday. Scott was the winner, completing 424 miles to Edwards’s 406. (Received April 19, 11.45 a.m.) April 19. The horse Nelson has arrived in good condition and is second favourite for the Sydney Gold Cup.
