Christchurch, March 31. It is proposed to establish a school of cookery available for all classes of the community.
A case of savage assault by a woman came before the Police Court to-day. Mrs Fitzsimmons was accused of violently assaulting her husband, James Fitzsimmons. It is alleged that last night she stunned her husband and then attempted to mutilate him; he was found lying on his bed covered with blood, and this morning was removed to the hospital. The woman was remanded till to-morrow as it was necessary to obtain medical evidence us to the injuries. The man is expected to recover.
April 1. At the Oxford annual races to-day, Mr Goodwin, of the well-known firm of Hohbs and Goodwin, totalisator proprietors, had his leg broken by a kick fiotn a horse.
Dunedin, April 1, The postmaster at Queenstown and a shepherd left for Martin’s Bay about a month ago, going overland, and it has been ascertained that they have not arrived. A search party is being organised at Queenstown.
