I UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, March 31. The adoption of "The Rating Act, 1882," by the various town boards is gazetted. Dr. Hislop, who retires from the secretnry.-bip of the Education Department, was to-day presented by the officeis of the department with a group of photos of all those under him. The Rev. Mr Habens takes charge of the department tomorrow. Mr J. Whitley King has accepted the editorial chair of the Marlborough Times, recently vacated by Mr G. G. Fitz Gerald. It is stated that the present system of sending delayed telegrams has proved satisfactory, and that the Government intend to permanently adopt the system.
