HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
The adjourned meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held immediately afterwards, all the members (six) being present, who names appear above. Mr Burger was voted to the chair.
The outward correspondence was read and approved of. The inward correspondence was x'ead and received, and considered.
In reply to a telegram to the Premier to inquire whether it would be legal for the Trustees elected by the contributors to transact business in connection with the Hospital before the Trustees to be appointed by the local bodies were elected, the Secretary read a telegram he had received, dated 25th inst., as follows:—“Your telegram of yesterday, am directed to say question is one which Trustees must decide on for themselves. Government do not give advice in such cases,”
The Chairman considered the present Trustees were now quite justified in transacting any business they thought proper—an opinion which was shared in by all present.
The Secretary reported having written to the Medical Officer re furnishing forms to Registrar, and receiving a reply that the forms were despatched to Wellington on tbo 24th inst. The Chairman thought their first business now would be to appoint officeis. But there was one matter i hey should attend to more particularly, and that was, as by section 59, to transmit to the District Board an estimate of the gross cost of the maintenance of the Kumara institution, also the estimated income from all sources for the next twelve months, together with a requisition to the Board "for a contribution from the Hospital and Charitable Aid Fund of the district to the amount of the difference between the estimated gross cost of maintenance and the estimated revenue.
This was resolved upon, and the Secretary instructed to prepare such estimate.
On the motion of Mr Yoysey, Mr R, E. Wylde was appointed Secretary. On the motion of Mr Morris, Mr Ziegler was appointed Treasurer. On the motion of the Chairman the Bank of New South Wkles was sfppointed the Bank to the institution, and the Treasurer authorised to transff,r the account of the Knmara Hospital Committee to the Knmara Hospital Trustees' account.
Some discussion arose relative to the appointment of a Chairman. The general opinion seemed to be that the office should be permanent or annnal. The question was deferred until the appointment of Trustees by the local bodies.
It was resolved that for the present four Trustees shall form a quorum. Messrs Yoysey, Burger, and Ziegler, were appointed the Honse Committee for the ensuing month. The question oi framing new byelaws for the management of the institution was left till Trustees were elected by the local bodies, which it was understood would be soon.
The Secretary and Treasurer were authorised to procure new sets of boobs.
The meeting was then adjourned to Tuesday next, being the first Tuesday in the month.
