BISHOP REDWOOD AT GREYMOUTH.

Bishop Redwood arrived at Greymouth by the steamer Maori at h.ili'pasfc four o'clock yesterday morning, a faithfnl few being on the wharf to receive him, amongst them being Father Carew. The Bishop and Father Carew at once proceeded to the priest's residence. Yesterday afternoon, at St. Patrick's Church, an imposing confirmation ceremony was gone through, the Bishop laying hands in the usual way ou a number of young people, the body of the church being well 6lled by parents, relatives, and friends of both sexes. The Bishop delivered an exhortative address specially for the benefit and instruction of the newly-confirmed. In the evening there was a large attendance in the church when the Bishop is reported by our morning contemporary to have preached a most eloquent sermon.

A "reception" of four young ladies will take place at half-past eight o'clock to-morrow morning. Two of the young ladies are natives of Greyniouth, and the other two belong to other parts of the coast. As besides the Bishop eight priests will ollicate, and crowds of friends and relatives of the fair novitiates'be present, the ceremony will necessarily be the largest and most imposing ever seen on the West Coast. Bishop Redwood will remain at Greymouth until after Sunday next, on which day he will consecrate the Roman Catholic Chapel at Brunnerton.
