A murderous assault was committed by a Chinaman at the Taniaki Hotel, Tahoraite, last night, on the waiter, a man named Joe Wright. The Chinaman attacked him with a slasher, inflicting two severe wounds on the back of the ueck and one on the top of his bead. The wounded man was taken to Woodville and Dr. Fussell dressed the wouuds, which are not of so serious a nature as was at first believed. The Chinaman has been arrested by Constable Gray, Fielding.
