Arrangements have been concluded whereby two bars will be opened at the forthcoming Colonial Exhibition exclusively for the sale of Australian wines. In the House of Commons last night, the Right Hon. Hugh Holmes [Conservative] brought forward the motion of which he had previously given notice, to the effect that the House declined to vote for supplies for Ireland without information as to the intention of Government in regard to that country. After considerable discussion the motion was negatived. The directors of the Bank of Australasia have declared a dividend for the half year at the rate of 15 per cent, pei’ annum, .£22,000 being brought forward and carried to reserve. The weekly Bank of England return gives the proportion of reserve to liabilities as 46 per cent, being 3 per cent, lower than last week. The total reserve of notes and bullion is £14,400,000, showing a decline of £IOO,OOO during the same period. Paris, March 5. In the Chamber of Deputies last night, the motion for the expulsion of the Princes was brought forward, and negatived by a large majority. [ special to press association, I London, March 2. For the regatta at Rockaway, New York, in June, 10,000 dollars have been offered as prize money, if Beach will compete. March 3. The valuable diamonds stolen some time ago from Lady Hill Trevor, of Brynkinalh, Denbighshire, have been recovered. Lord CupelJ, heir to the Earl of Essex, who has been appointed aide-de-camp to Lord Carrington, has sailed for Sydney. The University of Cambridge will confer the degree of Master of Arts on Mr Charles Todd, of South Australia. Mr John Morley, Chief Secretary for Ireland, considers another general election probable shortly.
