THE SOLEMNISATION OF ST. PATRICK’S COLLEGE. Wellington, February 21. There was a large congregation present at the Catholic Church attached to St. Patrick’s College, this morning, on the occasion of the solemnization of file College by Cardinal Moran. The College was formally opened some time ago, and advantage was taken of the visit to the colony of his Eminence to dedicate it. Cardinal Moran was at the entrance to the Chapel, and escorted to the Throne by Bishops Luck, Moran, Murray, Redwood, Reynolds, and about 30 priests. Pontifical High Mass was celebrated by Bishop Reynolds, of Adelaide, after which Cardinal Moran delivered a powerful address, in which the oVijects and aims of the College were set forth. In the course of his address, and referring to the subject of State aid being granted to their schools, he said be had no doubt that before many years the present state of things would be remedied and they would receive aid; but in the meantime they would continue to nrge their inalienable rights in this matter, although they would do so with all moderation and due consideration to the rights of others. The proceedings were brought to a close by Bishop Reynolds pronouncing the benediction. The offertory, amounting to £SOO, goes towards the building fund. The conversazione to the Cardinal on Tuesday evening promises to be very successful. The exhibits which have been lent for the occasion have been insured to the extent of £IO,OOO.
