One hundred labourers employed by the Melbourne City Corporation have struck for a reduction of work to eight hours per diem.

The debate on the motion introduced by Mr Garvan, censuring the financial policy of the Government, was concluded in the Legislative Assembly at a late hour last night. On a division being taken, the Government was defeated by 52 votes to 44, and the House then adjourned.
